School….back at it again. It sure has been awhile since I’ve been back. I left 9 years ago, or so, to start a sales job at a local furniture store. I always thought I’d last maybe a year or so at that job and then move on to something else. I was wrong. I stayed at that place 7 years and started to position myself to have a career in that industry, and never really thought much about school after.

Well after time passed I realized how much I hated the idea of school. I see it as “big business”, and I personally hate taking advice from “educators”, I’d rather get it from “executors”. But with this program from BYU Idaho, the instructors really are “executors” in most cases, and I can go debt free, so that eliminates the feeling of getting screwed :).

This first week has been interesting. I work 50 hours or so a week at my job and I seem to be working about 4 to 5 hours a night on other work for school, so that makes about 80 hours a week. I’d say it’s been a challenge, but nothing insane for sure.

One thing that I really got out of this first week was just that I’ve got to grind. I gotta just do the work. Doing the work gets me the results I want. I know that is pretty simple, but it is so true. I’m used to just “going through the motions”, and doing the minimum in school work and getting an “A”. I did it all through high school and my first experience at college and it worked fine. But not this time around. Some of you may or may not believe in a higher power (I do), but I really thing the Lord blesses you when you put forth your best effort.

I’m really hoping this experience in school helps me find what I love. I love flipping things, I love selling, I love training people, and I love my family. I’m happy to start this blog and put what I learn out there. I’ll add a link to my LinkedIn if you want to follow me there. Otherwise take care and go grind!
